Car Shipping Prices are Likely Increasing

02/21/2012

You should expect to see increases in the cost of shipping your car, because of recent increases in the price of diesel fuel. The price of diesel fuel has a direct impact on the cost of shipping a car, because it is a large component of an auto transporter’s expenses (most fully loaded trucks get 5-7 miles per gallon). And the further you are shipping your car, the more price increases are going to impact the total price of shipping.

According to the US Energy Information Administration , diesel prices are $0.41 higher per gallon than a year ago and much of that increase was since the beginning of 2012. So, expect to see the price of shipping vehicles increase this month and for at least the next several months.
