With the increasing cost of diesel fuel, individuals shipping their vehicles should expect prices for car shipping to increase. The average price of diesel fuel is now over $3.50 for the U.S. as a whole and over $3.70 in some parts of the country. These prices are 28% higher than a year ago. Details are available from the US Energy Information Administration.
While the impact of fuel prices may vary by region of the country, the increase will inevitably lead to higher prices for car shipping. Fuel costs are a large portion of an auto hauler’s expenses, so they will need to pass on at least a portion of the costs to individuals shipping their vehicles. Therefore, shippers should expect at least a small increase in the cost of shipping as compared to a year ago.
