Will My Car Ship on a Big Car Carrier?

10/16/2012

Unless you fit one of the exceptions listed below, your car will most likely be shipped on an 8-10 car hauler that you typically see delivering new cars to dealerships.

Reason your car might be shipped on a different type of carrier include:

  1. If you choose enclosed transport, your car car would be on an enclosed car carrier, which typically carries less than 8 vehicles at a time. (See our post on Enclosed Auto Transport for more info.)
  2. When you are shipping within the same state or other short hauls, many transporters use carriers that hold 2-4 vehicles.
  3. Demand for car shipping in the pick-up and delivery areas can make it more economical for auto transporters to use a truck that has a lower capacity.

Regardless of the type of car carrier your vehicle ships on, it is the professionalism and customer service you receive from the car shipping company that matters most. Be sure to choose a car shipping company that has a good track record of satisfied customers.
